Thuy Cung Cave · Photograph supplied by Phong Nha VietSurvival Valley & Thuy Cung Cave
Leave the forest trail behind and discover turquoise water within the limestone.
In Survival Valley, the spectacle is not confined to a single stop. Tropical forest, rugged limestone paths, Tre Stream and the entrance to Cave E – Thuy Cung Cave form a succession of changing greens. The journey itself becomes part of the discovery.
Phong Nha Viet’s trekking route combines forest walking with swimming, stand-up paddleboarding and water-cave exploration, subject to the chosen programme. When the turquoise water appears beneath ancient limestone arches, the urge is to slow down, look a little longer and let nature lead the way.
Participants need suitable fitness and confidence in water. Operations depend on the weather and water levels.
Paradise Well, Paradise Cave · Photograph supplied by Phong Nha VietExplore 4 km of Paradise Cave
Go beyond the familiar visitor walkway into the cave’s deeper passages.
Paradise Cave is renowned for its enormous limestone chambers. Yet the 4 km adventure route feels quite different from the standard visit: artificial light becomes scarce, footsteps slow and remarkable stalactites emerge in the beams of head torches.
The route crosses varied natural terrain, with narrower passages and water sections according to the operating programme. One highlight is the area known as Paradise Well. It is a chance to experience the cave at closer quarters – not simply to take photographs, but to appreciate the extraordinary stillness beneath the earth.

Inside Phong Nha Cave · Photograph supplied by Phong Nha VietExplore 4.5 km into Phong Nha Cave
Paddle into the darkness, then continue the expedition on foot.
As the kayaks leave the daylight behind, the underground river draws you further into Phong Nha Cave. Headlamps reveal vaulting rock, delicate curtains of stalactites and water as still as glass. It feels a world away from the standard sightseeing boat trip.
The 4.5 km expedition combines approximately 3 km of kayaking with a further 1.5 km of exploration on foot, according to the tour itinerary. Rocky terrain, underground water and the experience of finding your way through the dark create a layered, memorable adventure.
The 4.5 km refers to the full exploration route, not to 4.5 km of continuous kayaking.
Ruc Mon Cave · Photograph supplied by Phong Nha VietRuc Mon – caves beyond the beaten track
Cross villages and streams, scramble over rock and meet a river beneath the mountain.
A journey to Ruc Mon begins in a landscape of mountain villages, forest paths and limestone cliffs. Above ground, the hills seem quiet; below, cave levels, stalactites and underground waterways gradually reveal themselves as you negotiate the terrain.
Phong Nha Viet features Ruc Mon Adventure and Ruc Mon Expedition, with different levels of challenge. Depending on the route, activities may include trekking, rock scrambling, access to an underground river and kayaking. Ruc Mon offers a less familiar perspective on the wider Phong Nha–Ke Bang karst landscape.
Several itineraries are available; activities and fitness requirements depend on the tour selected.

The Arem region invites a deeper encounter with the nature and cultural history of Phong Nha–Ke Bang. Limestone mountains, mature forest and the heritage of the Arem community create a very different atmosphere from well-established sightseeing routes.
The stone cypress forest – Kling Cave route in the Thuong Trach area has been presented by the national park authorities in connection with its ecological and local cultural value.
