Cha Cung – Pristine Beauty Amid the Truong Son Range

Amid the lush green canopy of the Truong Son tropical rainforest, Cha Cung Stream emerges like a vast “natural swimming pool” carefully crafted by Mother Nature herself. Its emerald, crystal-clear waters reveal every pebble beneath the surface, gently weaving through moss-covered rocky rapids before merging with the tranquil Long Dai River. Here, there are no car horns, no dust—only the gentle murmur of flowing water, the cheerful songs of birds, and the fresh scent of forest leaves. If you’re seeking a true hideaway, Cha Cung is an unmissable choice.

How to Get to Cha Cung?

From the center of Dong Hoi, it takes only about 60–70 km to reach this paradise. The route is scenic, winding along the mountains with stretches that open to peaceful countryside views. You can ride a motorbike if you enjoy the thrill of the wind on your face, or opt for a private car or group tour bus for a more relaxed journey. The directions are quite simple: follow National Highway 9E westward, turn onto the western branch of the Ho Chi Minh Road, cross Khe Cac Bridge, and continue for another 5 km until you see the sign leading to the tourist area.

What to Do in Cha Cung?

At Cha Cung, the very first thing everyone wants to do is plunge into the cool, refreshing waters of the stream pool. The thrill of swinging on a rope and splashing straight into the crystal-clear water will surely make you want to do it again and again. For something more relaxed, you can go kayaking or try stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), combining gentle exercise with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and forest.

For adventurous souls, a trekking journey through the pristine rainforest opens up a lush green world, while the 2.5 km exploration tour of Tien Nu Cave will transport you into a magical realm of stalactites and an underground river flowing inside the cavern. When the sun sets, camping by the stream, listening to the forest breathe, and gazing at a sky full of stars offers a truly healing experience.

Best Time to Visit Cha Cung

The most beautiful time to visit Cha Cung is from April to September, when the dry season keeps the stream crystal clear and the sunshine is just right for outdoor activities. In contrast, the rainy season from October to December causes water levels to rise and trails to become slippery, making it less suitable for travel.

Who is Cha Cung For?

Interestingly, Cha Cung suits many different types of travelers. Families can enjoy safe swimming areas, shaded huts, and delicious local dishes. Groups of young friends can go trekking, try rope swings, and take plenty of Instagram-worthy photos. Couples will find romantic spots along the stream to capture private moments. And if you simply want to ‘detox’ your soul, just sitting by the water, listening to the gentle flow, is enough to lighten your heart.

What to Eat at Cha Cung?

The cuisine at Cha Cung is rich with the flavors of the mountains and forests. Golden, fragrant grilled chicken; sweet, non-fishy grilled stream fish; boiled wild vegetables with sesame salt; and fragrant, sticky upland rice are dishes that leave a lasting impression on visitors. If you’re traveling in a group, ordering a shared platter is both filling and budget-friendly, while still brimming with flavor.

Can You Stay Overnight at Cha Cung?"

You can absolutely spend the night at Cha Cung by camping beside the stream. For more comfort, you can return to Dong Hoi City to stay in a hotel or homestay.
