How to Get to Khe Nuoc Lanh

From the centre of Dong Hoi City, travel along National Highway 1A, then turn onto the Ho Chi Minh Trail. Continue straight to the next junction, then turn right onto Road 10. Follow Road 10 until you reach the intersection with Doi 12, then turn right towards Truong Xuan Commune. Continue a little further and you will arrive at Rao Da and Khe Nuoc Lanh.

Best season: From April to August. During this period, the weather is sunny, the stream is at its clearest, and the water is wonderfully cool—just as its name suggests.
Avoid visiting from October to December, as the rainy season can cause water levels to rise, making conditions more dangerous.

Getting there: Khe Nuoc Lanh is about 40 km from Dong Hoi. It is best reached via the eastern branch of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, where the paved road is smooth and suitable for both cars and motorbikes.

What to Bring

Clothing: Bring swimwear, a towel, and a spare set of clothes. It is especially advisable to wear plastic sandals or grip sandals, as the rocks under the stream can be quite slippery.

Skin protection: Bring sunscreen and insect repellent, as the area is part of a primary forest environment where mosquitoes - and possibly leeches if you venture deeper into the forest - may be present.
