Binh Dinh, a coastal province in the northern part of Vietnam’s South Central Coast, is a land where history, culture, and natural beauty come together in perfect harmony. Its capital, the port city of Quy Nhon, lies 1,070 kilometers south of Hanoi, 323 kilometers south of Da Nang, and 652 kilometers north of Ho Chi Minh City along National Highway 1.
A Glimpse into History
In ancient times, during the Qin and Han dynasties, Binh Dinh was known as Tuong Lam County under Nhat Nam District. In 137 AD, Khu Lien, a local official in the district, led an uprising and proclaimed himself the king of Lin Yi, marking a historic turning point.
Fast forward to 1921, the French colonial government separated Phu Yen province from Binh Dinh, and this arrangement lasted until 1945. The province was subsequently divided into 11 districts and 1 township, including 4 mountainous districts, reflecting its diverse geography and history.
A Cultural Legacy
Binh Dinh’s cultural roots run deep, forming a rich tapestry of traditions and influences. If the Dong Son culture shaped the north and the Oc Eo culture defined the south, Binh Dinh—strategically located in Central Vietnam—stands as the cradle of the Sa Huynh-Truong Xe culture. Over centuries of building and defending the nation, Binh Dinh has absorbed and enriched its cultural heritage through the exchange of values with other civilizations.
This land is also famously called the "Cradle of Poetry and Literature," having nurtured great poets and literary minds who have left an indelible mark on Vietnam’s literary history. Here, poetry flows naturally, from the learned scholars to humble farmers, weaving a unique cultural identity that celebrates the beauty of its people, landscapes, and rich poetic traditions.
A Paradise for Nature Lovers
Binh Dinh enchants travelers with its pristine landscapes and tranquil charm. Blessed by nature, its unspoiled beaches, golden sunshine, and gentle breezes offer a sanctuary for those seeking to reconnect with the earth’s natural beauty.
