3 Days 2 Nights: Dong Hoi – Vung Chua & Yen Island – Phong Nha Cave – General Vo Nguyen Giap Memorial House

Day 1 – April 8: Explore Dong Hoi City

Morning: Guests arrive in Dong Hoi by their own means and check in at the hotel.
14:00: The organizing committee welcomes the group at the hotel. Guests check in and rest.
16:00: Begin the Dong Hoi City Tour, visiting:

  • Ho Chi Minh Square – the city’s central landmark.

  • Mother Suot Statue – honoring the legendary war heroine.

  • Tam Toa Church Ruins – a poignant reminder of wartime history.

  • Dong Hoi Lighthouse & Quang Binh Gate – historic and scenic highlights.

  • Nhat Le or Bao Ninh Beach – enjoy the sea breeze and coastal views.

18:00: Dinner at a local restaurant. Evening free to explore the city.
Overnight in Dong Hoi.

Day 2 – April 9: Vung Chua & Yen Island – Phong Nha Cave

06:30 – 07:00: Breakfast at the hotel.
07:30: Depart for Vung Chua & Yen Island – the resting place of General Vo Nguyen Giap, Vietnam’s legendary military leader. Pay respects at his grave and take photos of the serene coastal scenery.
Continue to Hoanh Son Quan at Deo Ngang Pass – a picturesque historic site immortalized in the poem “Qua Deo Ngang” by poetess Ba Huyen Thanh Quan.

11:00: Lunch at Cảnh Dương fishing village, famous for its seaside murals and fresh seafood.

12:30: Journey to Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park. Drive along the scenic Ba Trai Road lined with lush pine trees.
13:30: Take a boat trip along the Son River – one of the most beautiful rivers in Quang Binh – to the entrance of Phong Nha Cave. Glide 1.2 km inside by paddle boat to admire majestic stalactites and stalagmites in the Tien Cave and Cung Dinh Cave.

16:00: Return to the hotel for rest.
18:00: Enjoy a Gala Dinner at the hotel, with music, games, and group bonding activities.
Overnight in Dong Hoi.

Day 3 – April 10: General Vo Nguyen Giap Memorial House – Farewell

06:30 – 07:30: Breakfast at the hotel and check-out.
08:00: Depart for Le Thuy District to visit the General Vo Nguyen Giap Memorial House – preserving photographs, artifacts, and documents from the life and career of Vietnam’s most celebrated general.

11:00: Farewell lunch at a local restaurant. End of the program. The guide and driver bid the group goodbye.

I just finished the 3-day “City Tour – Phong Nha Cave – Vung Chua & Yen Island – General Vo Nguyen Giap Memorial House” with Phong Nha Viet, and it was unforgettable! From the charming sights of Dong Hoi to the moving visit at General Giap’s resting place, and the breathtaking boat ride into Phong Nha Cave, every moment was special. The guides were friendly and knowledgeable, the hotels were comfortable, and the whole trip was so well organized. A perfect blend of history, nature, and culture—I highly recommend it!
